  • "My Entitled Neighbors"

My wife and I have neighbors who, over time, have become some of the most entitled people I know. It didn't happen suddenly. It just... slowly, without anyone really noticing.
  • The latest incident was just a few days ago. In our village, we have a small but very popular library. It's not large, but it's well kept, quiet, and the librarians enforce their rules strictly. One of those rules is about the study rooms. You book
  • them online, and if you don't show up within 15 minutes, you lose the room. Very clear. Very straightforward.
  • My wife required a quiet spot for a virtual doctor's appointment, so she booked a study room for Tuesday afternoon. However, the room was already occupied when she got there.
  • The occupants were our neighbors. She kindly said, "Well, I think I booked this room. II
  • The neighbor woman glanced at her laptop and said, "Yes, we noticed it was booked, but no one had shown up. "
  • My wife told her that she had just got there and presented the confirmation email. The neighbor man exhaled and said, "We have already arranged everything, you know...
  • Then the librarian came over and asked what was going on. My neighbors at once began to tell her how they just needed a quiet place and how it would only be for a little while.
  • Teacher asked if they had a reservation. They didnt. They were asked to leave. The neighbor who is a wife, later on, came to us and told us how the librarian was rand that library should be more flexible.
  • I asked her if she would still think it was okay if someone took something she reserved. She said, Thats different. Apparently, rules are flexiblewhen they inconvenience entitled people

  • OP Lonely-Asparagus 1037 really but in the libraries around my area there are what's called "breakout rooms" where students or anyone can reserve them for about an hour at most you can just fill out a form and how many of you guys are gonna be there
  • DashfulVanilla I'm glad it worked out for your wife. I honestly cannot stand people like this. They obviously have no empathy.
  • Woburnite I would have asked, "How is that different?"
  • Odd_Tea4945 Yes, of course "that's different", because the world turns around your entitled neighbors, not the sun...
  • RoyallyOakie I wonder what it feels like to have that much confidence and self- importance.
